E1004DN, The First Asus Netbook with Optical Drive

March 27th, 2009 · No Comments

A report from DigiTimes has said that ASUS will be implementing DVD drives on its Eee PC netbook series. The unit that is lucky enough to get the DVD installed in it is called the E1004DN. Just like its predecessor, the E1004 DN will run on Intel Atom N280 paired with a 120 GB HDD (why not SDD instead). Price? It’s going to be around $531 – $590.

I don’t see any reasons why they should put DVD drives on netbooks, as people probably wouldn’t use it often anyway. Besides, the DVD will make the price even higher. That’s going to be n contrast with the reason they built Eee PC in the first place.
