This post is related with my previous posting Make Firefox Run Faster. Both are about tweaking Firefox to run faster with an efficient memory resources. On the previous post, tweaking can be done just by installing Firefox add-on, but in this post you need to explore a bit deeper to about:config page. There’s nothing scary doing this tweak its only need to follow the instruction.
First open a Firefox’s new page and type about:config on the url box then press enter. You will be on about:config page and ready for tweaking. There are 3 tweaking tips on this page but those are not consecutive steps, you can use it all or chose only some of it.
1. To Fetch only pages you click
Find out network.prefetch-next (using scroll down or just typing on filter box “network”). By default it set to TRUE, click it to change to FALSE. Now Firefox will fetch only for page you click.

2. To Limit the RAM usage
Find out browser.cache.disk.capacity. The default setting is 50000. You can change the number according to your physical RAM. For RAM sizes between 512MB and 1GB, start with 15000. For RAM sizes between 128MB and 512M, try 5000, and you will be happy of the result.

3. To Reduce the RAM usage when Firefox gets minimized
You have to create a new Boolean value here. All you have to do is right click anywhere on about:config page, select New and click Boolean. A box will appear and you will have to enter config.trim_on_minimize as value. The boolean value should be set to TRUE in the next screen, and that’s it.
After you finish with all of your tweaks you have to restart Firefox before enjoying the result. If you are using Internet Explorer, please consider to use Firefox since its faster and more secure.
