On June 25, 2007 Seagate Technology announced their latest product of 1 terabyte (TB) hard drives. This Baracuda HD largest series will deliver high capability to deal with an industry-size server requirement which consist of combination of capacity, performance and reliability.

The Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 and Barracuda ES.2 is able to store 1TB of data. It has 7,200-rpm spin speeds and average seek times of as low as 8.5ms. Its internal cache could store up to 32MB and apparently it comes with Seagate’s five-year limited warranty.

The Barracuda 7200.11 has the highest data transfer rate for HDD. It has 105 MB/s sustained transfer rate. A heavy duty server will gain performance improvement when using HDD with this high data transfer capability.

To keep pace up with recent trend of SSD IDE, Transcend presented their 2.5 inch SSD IDE Flash disk products on Computex 2007. These SSD Flash disk comes in 3 capacity i.e 8 GB, 16GB, 32 GB and they are able to transfer data at 40MB / sec for reading and 35MB / sec for writing. Apparently these SSD Brothers from Transcend are slightly faster than Ultra-ATA/33 Hard Disk. At the moment, there are no information for the price though.

Transcend recently released their latest product of USB Flash Drive JetFlash series i.e. V85 and 2A. JetFlash V85 was manufactured with elegant yet robust metal design. This stick is able to store 8GB of your data within its tiny body (49.5×15.8×7.4mm) and weigh only 15g. Obviously it can keep your DVD movie handy and ready to play in any computer with USB connector. If 8 GB capacity is not enough for you, you can consider Transcend JetFlash 2A which able to store up to 16 GB data. It’s supporting read/write speed up to 27MB/sec and 22MB/sec respectively. With 16 GB memory capacity you could carry the content of two Double Layer DVD in your pocket.
