As major mobile phone manufacturer, Samsung doesn’t want to be left behind in rugged handheld production. Following it’s China made competitor CK800, Samsung announced their first strong phone product.

Samsung Solid is encased with rubberized cover and has a military ‘IP54′ rating meaning it is has been passed as water, dust and shock-resistant. Solid also has SOS dialing feature which sends an alert message to a contact pre-selected in the phonebook. It also has flashlight which can be useful during a night trip across the jungle.

For it’s data connectivity Samsung solid was equipped with GPRS connectivity, WAP 2.0, MMS, Bluetooth and Java functionality. This rugged mobile phone would be a nice complement to your strong handheld GPS. The Samsung Solid is available exclusively on O2 for £59.99 under its Pay&Go plan.
