
On June 25, 2007 Seagate Technology announced their latest product of 1 terabyte (TB) hard drives. This Baracuda HD largest series will deliver high capability to deal with an industry-size server requirement which consist of combination of capacity, performance and reliability.
The Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 and Barracuda ES.2 is able to store 1TB of data. It has 7,200-rpm spin speeds and average seek times of as low as 8.5ms. Its internal cache could store up to 32MB and apparently it comes with Seagate’s five-year limited warranty.
The Barracuda 7200.11 has the highest data transfer rate for HDD. It has 105 MB/s sustained transfer rate. A heavy duty server will gain performance improvement when using HDD with this high data transfer capability.
The Barracuda ES.2 and 7200.11 will start in shipment during the third quarter. For volume shipping, the price tag will be offered at an MSRP of $399.99.
