I think you’ve heard that Google algorithm to determine which page should be on the top position of SERP is the company’s top secret and it continuously upgraded and fine tuned. Therefore many people whose claimed their self as SEO guru couldn’t gives you guarantee that your page will be on top SERP position if you applying their method.
Watching the rise and sank position of the seocontest2008 participant is interesting, but it gives me more open question rather than answer. There are many new pages which showed up on the first page only for one days, then it disappeared. Another case, there is a page that already on top position, but it slowly goes down as another participant’s page rise up.
The bottom line is Google searching algorithm is really unpredictable. I can only adjusting my page seocontest2008 several times and adding more quality back link pointing to that particular seo page
